The following gaming projects include downloads and playable content. Documents are PDF files and require an appropriate reader. Some videogame projects are available on my public Github repository.

Personal Projects

Tiny Ghost — I developed a 3-D Unity game with a team of peers at Rochester Institute of Technology using agile game development with Scrum. We performed all stages from market research to playtesting. Middle school kids tell us they loved it. (2019.)

Oh Darn, My Puppet Has Been Possessed By a Demon — With a different RIT group, I created the design document for a Metroidvania game. This meant game mechanics, story progression, and levels, all for somebody in the future to program. (2019.)

Excessively Acronymed Educational Adventure (Obviously) — With yet a different group, I joined in Jam for a Cause 2019, a 24-hour game jam themed around “education.” I concepted the 2-D Unity game, designed levels, and coded game mechanics. (2019.)

Predictable Cave Adventure — I designed and coded three versions of a text adventure in escalating complexity. I created puzzles, an in-game help system, and an implied story. (2019.)

Earthquake! Things Fall — As a team challenge, I co-designed, playtested, and presented a board game within a 2-hour limit. We were required to use the theme of “fall” and incorporate dice without rolling them. (2019.)

Space Trader Combat Code — In redrafting my Space Trader RPG (see Writing page), I implemented the ship combat system in Java. This code is not a standalone executable, but can be copied and run inside any editor program to create console output. (2018.)

Visual Search Experiment Code — As a vision scientist, I spent 5 years programming experiments in Mathematica and another 5 in Matlab. This code is not a standalone executable, but can be copied inside Matlab to run a visual search experiment. (2012.)

Lone Wolf – The Board Game

Encounter Book II (and Map Layout Diagrams) — This expansion was also billed as the “Scenario Pack,” a supplement I created to expand Gary Chalk’s design to three and four players. (2015 – Kickstarter project.)

Errata — A list of corrections for the printed board game, including replacement statistics for a Play Sheet. (2016 – Kickstarter project.)

The Fight for Fogwood — Gary Chalk’s print and play scenario that I edited for the Kickstarter. (2014 – Kickstarter project.)

Fabled Lands: The Serpent King’s Domain

Demo File — I edited Paul Gresty’s opening sections for The Serpent King’s Domain, representing one major area of the game world. (2015 – Kickstarter project.)

The Way of the Tiger

Demo File — A demo of Mark Smith and Jamie Thomson’s classic Avenger! gamebook from 1985, which I excerpted and edited for the Kickstarter. (2013 – Kickstarter project.)

Arcana Agency: The Thief of Memories

The Case of the Unghostly Ghost — I edited Paul Gresty’s prequel adventure, later incorporated into the book itself due to Kickstarter funding. (2012 – Kickstarter project.)

Fabled Lands RPG

Campaign – Birth of Heroes — My campaign for the Sokara Source Book, 8 tabletop RPG quests adapted from the original gamebook series. (2012.)

Quest – Lair of the Ratmen — My expansion of the introductory quest in the Fabled Lands Core Rule Book, originally by Shane Garvey and Jamie Wallis. (2012.)
